Elyse Villanueva

Elyse has an interdisciplinary background in social research, philanthropy, mixed-methods evaluation, and equity-focused community engagement. She is driven by addressing social change and improving the impact of organizations and initiatives.
Elyse has worked across a range of sectors, including public health, social and criminal justice reform, substance use treatment and prevention, education, and human rights. At Equal Measure, she applies her skills in quantitative and qualitative data analysis, data cleaning, discourse analysis, and needs assessments to projects such as The BUILD Health Challenge; the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s institutional transformation, national scale enterprise, and measurement and learning strategies; and New America’s Partnership to Advance Youth Apprenticeship, leveraging data to advance a more equitable pathway system.
Prior to Equal Measure, Elyse served as Director of Philanthropy at Let’s Eat, Grandma, an award-winning resume writing service. She analyzed the company’s philanthropic efforts, published annual impact reports, and connected with key community partners to design a career education program. Elyse was also a research analyst at Volunteers of America Los Angeles, where she spearheaded a community needs assessment for a substance use education program in a neighborhood in Compton. She began her evaluation journey at an integrated healthcare facility as a research assistant, evaluating substance use and health programs along with social determinants of health across LA County.
