Carissa Chang Cress
Manager, Communications and Marketing
Carissa has more than a decade of experience in strategic communications, including digital media, project management, branding, and events. Most of her career has focused on access and equity in postsecondary education.
At Equal Measure, Carissa manages the organization’s digital communications strategy. She also supports business development and thought leadership products through writing, editing, and media outreach. She led communications efforts for Equal Measure’s engagement with the Boston Foundation, helping to clarify and elevate a new foundation-wide strategic vision focused on equity. She has also contributed to strategic communications in the movement to broaden participation in STEM through NSF’s Eddie Bernice Johnson INCLUDES National Network.
Before Equal Measure, Carissa served as manager for outreach communications and events at the University of California, Office of the President. There, she led print, digital, and event communications for the university’s systemwide programs and initiatives that advance inclusive excellence across California. Prior to the UC Office of the President, Carissa was a communications manager at Scholarship America, the nation’s largest nonprofit, private scholarship organization.
