Alice Soo-a Choe

Consultant

With a background in public health and community-engaged research, Alice’s interests lie in eliminating health disparities among groups that have been economically and/or socially marginalized by addressing the root cause of structural issues.

Alice approaches her work with a strong emphasis on data, with skills in both qualitative and quantitative methods. At Equal Measure, she conducts literature reviews, assists in data collection efforts, and develops data visualizations for engagements with the Philadelphia Partnership for Nutrition and Health and United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey, Lumina Foundation’s Prioritizing Adult Community College Enrollment (PACCE) initiative, and Robin Hood’s Mobility Learning and Action Bets (LABs). Alice also serves as a core team member for projects with the Boston Foundation and CareQuest Institute for Oral Health. She first worked at Equal Measure through the Expanding Access Evaluation Internship, as part of Robin Hood’s Mobility LABs evaluation team.

Before Equal Measure, Alice was a research fellow at Drexel University’s Dornsife School of Public Health. She developed and analyzed surveys that examined the health status and access to health care among migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border. For her master’s thesis, she partnered with the Philadelphia Chinatown Development Corporation, a community-based organization, to create a storytelling campaign that addressed health-related stigma among the local Asian immigrant community. Alice also served as a patient navigator at a community health center in Philadelphia, where she managed the operations of a COVID-19 vaccine clinic and conducted weekly outreach for patients with limited access to resources.
